A Slight Case of Senioritis

Bonjour ma belle famille!

My companions left me today. Kind of. The MTC takes all the international missionaries up to Temple Square before they leave the MTC, so both of my foreign companions are up in Salt Lake City right now, and I'm hanging out with les autres soeurs aujourd'hui.

So good news: I got my flight plans yesterday! I leave Monday the 27 at 10:55 from Salt Lake. I'm supposed to leave the MTC at like 6:00 am, so you better believe you can expect a phone call Monday morning! Eeeeee! I fly to Chicago and then have a couple hours layover and then to my beloved LONDON and have four hours there (brilliant) and then straight on to Geneva, Switzerland! After we all got our flight plans last night, it was a little hard to focus and get stuff done. But also, I feel a little bit of pressure: I only have 10 days to learn the whole French language...bah!

Ok I don't have a ton of big stories to tell, but a lot of little things to say. So first of all, RED ROCK! I heard a little bit of how it went, but I want pictures and details! Daniel said that there were some cool leg names, and Rachel said y'all got 7th overall?! Nice! Looks like it was me holding you back last year.

One of our teachers, Frere Welch, asked us this week if we were doing everything that we could on our part to be blessed with the gift of tongues. I thought about it briefly and quickly realized NO I'm not. So our district made a goal to only speak French for the rest of the time we are here. It's been really hard, and I have definitely slipped up a few times, but it's fun. I think that if we all are strict and actually do it, we will learn a lot in the next few days before we all leave.

So in answer to your questions, we were not part of the regional conference. I wish we were though, it sounds like it was really good! We did have Elaine Dalton speak to us at Relief Society though, and it was so good. Right now there is an elder drumming on the table next to me and it's really annoying. Dumb. Anyways, Sister Dalton was great. And this week, I get to sit up on the stand for Relief Society because my lovely companion Sister Vasileva is sharing her conversion story. She is seriously amazing. Hopefully we'll have the prophet or somebody speak to us so I can sit on the stand with him! Anyways, last Sunday we didn't have a fireside because the gym was closed to redo the floors, so we just had a double dose of films. They usually show a few films after the fireside on Sundays, like the Joseph Smith movie, Legacy, the Testaments, or some talks. We watched Mountain of The Lord this time and it was seriously really good. Acting was mediocre, of course, but it was all about the Salt Lake Temple. It showed some shots of the inside of it, and it just reminded me of the times we spent there this summer. I also started thinking about how special that temple is to our family...that's where covenants were made that really began our eternal family. How amazing is that? We can be HAPPY, together forever. Thank you mom and dad:)

Ok so now a bunch of random little things:
I'm sorry that you get my written letters so late. It seems like they take almost a week to get to you, which is dumb, since you are so close. Oh also, I asked the mail room, and I guess I can leave a package there, and they will take it to PostMart by the dollar theater in Provo (maybe the same one you take my packages too?) and you can come get it for free. So I will probably do that if it's ok? Just with some stuff that I'm not going to take to Switzerland. Oh and about the skirts: the one that got messed up with the liner isn't from Sister Missionary Mall. I think we got it at Burlington. The ones that are pilling are from SMM though. It's not bad, but I didn't think that they should do that only after a few weeks. What should we do? Because I still wear them. Hmm.

Also, the bags that they have here at the bookstore are ugly and really expensive. Do you think it's mandatory that I get one? Or should I just use the one I've got/been using here? It's worked fine so far. I don't even know.

Question: Have y'all ordered some more contacts by chance? I still have I think two pairs after the ones that are in my eyeballs right now, but I don't know what you wanted to do about those. Also, I was wondering if you could use my money to purchase and send to me some hair stuff that my roommate has that I used and like. It's called Garnier Fructis Style Curl Sculpting Cream Gel. If you can find it that would be awesome, but if not, don't even worry about it.

Fun French Fact for the week: The nous form of the subjunctive form of the verb "aller" (to go) is allions, which is ALMOST my first name!

Ok so to finish up, I just want to tell you my new mission motto. We had a devotional on Tuesday and I heard this quote: "Each day should be a masterpiece." I just want to feel like I give every day my all and I don't want to have any regrets from my mission. I don't want to disappoint you or the Lord or myself or any potential investigators or anyone!

I just love you all and I'm excited to talk to you in a few days! Thank you so so much for the shirts and the candy and the wonderful letters and all of your love and support. You are the best family.

Love you much,
Allie!
