Well this begins the final email of my MTC adventure. This week has been a little fou (crazy) with all the preparations, etc. A little note about mailing: We don't get DearElders on Saturdays or Sundays, so today is your last chance. Also, if you send one after noon today I probably won't get it. Second, I have a package that I am going to send home with a few random things that I'm not taking with. I think they are taking it to PostMart and then they will call you and you can come pick it up or something. Third, I probably won't send physical letters like I usually do because I had to pack alot today and I'm going to TALK TO YOU ON MONDAY!! More on that soon. Oh also, thank you SO much for all the nice things you have sent me! Rachel, those hair things are adorable. Did you drop them off here?! They were in an envelope with pretty much just my name on it so I was wondering if you were here? Mom both of the skirts are awesome. And the shirts, but I think I mentioned them in another letter. But seriously I love them and they fit really nicely. And Grace, thank you for all the candy you have sent. I will send you all some Swiss chocolate every once in awhile. (Sidenote: I apologize if I ever spell anything wrong or something... I've noticed that since I've been here my spelling is terrible.)
So we saw Soeur Kenny off on Monday. It was terrible. I honestly did not prepare myself for this part of the mission: getting really close to people and making amazing friendships and then just having to say goodbye after a couple of months. Seriously, these elders and sisters have become some of my best friends, probably because we are with each other all day every day and we've been able to have some cool spiritual experiences together and learn and grow together. Ugh I'm going to miss them! Even the silly 19 year old boys! But we had a little testimony meeting Monday morning with our district before S. Kenny left. Everyone was in tears. It was a mess. But it was wonderful. It's been kind of weird since then...I feel a little naked without a third companion, you know? But she sent us a DearElder from Paris (she had an 8 hour layover there...but couldn't leave the airport) and that was good to hear from her again. It's just incredible how perfect everything is. I mean, I know that I have been put here at this time and with the people I'm with for a definite reason. I have learned so much from both of my companions and from each of the people I've worked with. What an amazing opportunity this is, to be able to have these experiences. Bah, I love what I'm doing!
We had our last gym time yesterday. I've moved on to the classic game of 4-square the last several days. It gets pretty wicked, but I hold my own. There are a couple of elders, Elder Call and Elder Falconbury, who formed a "secret combination" with me and we definitely help each other to get everyone else out. It was a lovely way to end my MTC-gymtime-career.
Ok so I wrote my itinerary in your paper letter last week, but I will do it again. Here we go.
American Airlines flight 3761. Leave SLC at 10:50am (Sept 27), arrive in Chicago/O Hare at 2:55pm.
British Airways flight 294. Leave Chicago at 5:15pm, arrive in London Heathrow at 6:55am (Sept 28).
British Airways flight 728. Leave London at 10:15am, arrive in Geneva at 12:55pm.
Aaaah! I'm getting so so excited. So I'm planning on calling from Salt Lake in the morning. If it's possible to have the whole family there that would be awesome, but if not, I can call them too. I'll call the house, of course. And you should let Daniel and Will be late to school :) If it's ok I might call from Chicago too... I don't know, what do you think? We can talk about it on Monday morning too.
Oh Dad, as far as finances go, I'm pretty sure they just give us a monthly alottment (I'm confident that I spelled that wrong) for our necessities. I can't imagine that I'll spend my money very often otherwise, because everything will be super expensive. But I will buy chocolate every now and then, biensur.
I got my hair cut today. Well, just a trim. We get at least one free here, so I figured I might as well get the ends cleaned up. She did a good job, and only took 15 minutes, as opposed to the 2.5 hours at the beauty school that one time haha. I had her thin it a bit too, so I look tres bien.
I'm getting so excited and so nervous about being out in the champs de mission (mission field). I don't feel ready to be immersed in French. I kind of hope I do get a native French speaking trainer though, because I think I would learn it a lot faster. But it will be harrrrrrrrd! Just keep praying for me though please. They're working, I promise! Remember how I told you last time we were trying to speak only French for the entire last week? We haven't done so hot at that...It was going really well for a couple days, but then when Sister Kenny left we really wanted to express ourselves instead of just saying simple superficial phrases like "Vous etes le meillure," and it's been kind of hit and miss since then. But I will be all over this speak-only-French business come Tuesday!
Well, I love you all very much and I am very very very excited to talk to you in just a couple of days! Good luck with school/work/everything! This Church is amazing! I LOVE YOU!
Love,
ALLIE
